代名詞TheyとTheseはどうやって使う？

基本的な意味と使い方を確認しましょう。

They

意味：（人・もの・事）彼らは、それらはの意味。

使い方：中学辞書でもTheyの使い方として表記されています。

Theyは、文中で前に出てきた名詞の複数の代名詞として使われます。

文中でTheyが出てきたら、前に出てきたモノの何を指しているかを見極めましょう。

例）

１．Ken and Yumi are students.  They are friends.

２．A dog and a cat were in the park.  They sat on the bench.

３．I got two tickets online yesterday.  They are different color.

These

意味：Thisの複数形、これらはの意味。

通常、Theseを使うときは、「これらは～です」と言うときに使います。

例）These are my pens but this isn’t my notebook.

Theseは、文中で前に出てきた複数の代名詞としては使われません。

（通常はThey）ただし、These（形容詞；これらの）+名詞とては使われることはあります。

例）

１．I always have two color pens and three notebooks.

✖These are my favorite stationary.

〇They are my favorite stationary.

２．A dog and a cat were in the park yesterday.

〇These animals usually fight each other.

〇They are in the park today, too.
